Setup:

  • Field Layout: Three grids, each measuring 10x10 meters.

  • Teams: Three teams of four players (12 total participants).

    • In Grid 1, Team A plays 4v2 against two chasers from Team B.

    • In Grid 2, Team C (four players) wait for a pass.

    • Grid 3 has Team B (two players) waiting to transition as the next possession team or to receive the ball.

Objective:

  • Develop communication, scanning, quick passing, and reaction skills with and without the ball.

Rules:

  • In-Grid Play:

    • In Grid 1, if Team A (possession team) completes five passes, they switch the ball to Team C in Grid 2.

    • Team A players move to Grid 2, while two chasers from Team B transition to Grid 1 to chase the waiting team.

    • If the chasers win the ball, they pass to their teammates in another grid to start a new sequence.

  • Touch Restrictions: Progress the difficulty by limiting touches to two per player.

  • Floater Option: Add a neutral floater between the grids to support transitions.

Progressions:

  • Smaller Grids: Reduce grid size to increase pressure on players.

  • Time Constraints: Add a time limit to complete five passes or switch grids.

  • Multi-Touch Zones: Allow one-touch in specific areas but require two touches in others to emphasize decision-making.

Key Coaching Points:

  • Passing Quality:

    • Focus on accuracy, pace, and timing.

  • Scanning and Awareness:

    • Players must constantly scan for options and pressure before receiving the ball.

  • Communication:

    • Use verbal and non-verbal cues to coordinate movements and transitions.

  • Transition Speed:

• React quickly to turnovers or switches, ensuring smooth rotations.
