Setup:

  • Grid Dimensions: Two 15x15m grids.

  • Goals: Two large goals at opposite ends and two mini-goals in the center of the playing area (four total).

  • Teams:

    • One team consists of a goalkeeper, 2 center-backs (CB), and a neutral player acting as a pivot (#6).

    • 2 chasers from the opposing team act as defenders.

Objective:

  • The primary team maintains possession within one grid, completing 5 passes to earn the right to switch play to the opposite grid.

  • Once the ball is switched, the neutral pivot (#6) transitions to the other grid to help maintain possession again.

Rules:

  • Possession: The team in possession works to complete passes under pressure from the 2 chasers.

  • Switching Grids: After completing 5 passes, the team must switch the ball to the other grid.

  • Scoring for Chasers:

    • If the chasers win possession, they can score in the mini-goals (center) or the big goal (defended by the goalkeeper).

Key Coaching Points:

  • Passing: Firm, accurate, and purposeful passes to maintain possession.

  • Scanning: Players must read the game, looking for opportunities to switch grids.

  • Positioning:

    • The #6 should position themselves as an effective outlet for switching play.

    • Center-backs must maintain proper spacing and angles for effective circulation.

  • Transitions: Encourage quick and smooth transitions when switching grids.

  • Defensive Pressure: Chasers should press aggressively, forcing errors or intercepting passes.

Progressions:

  • Touch Restriction: Limit possession players to 2 touches to increase difficulty.

  • Time Limit: Impose a time limit for completing passes and switching grids.
