Organization

  • Setup: 15x15 meter area with five players keeping possession against two defenders.

  • Objective: Blue team aims to complete 10 consecutive passes to score a point.

  • Transition: If the orange team intercepts the ball, they quickly counter-attack towards the mini-goals. After each attempt, roles rotate.

Key Coaching Points

  1. Quick Decision-Making: Encourage players to make swift, precise decisions under pressure.

  2. Awareness and Scanning: Players should constantly scan the area to anticipate the next pass and be prepared for potential interceptions.

  3. Body Positioning: Emphasize receiving the ball on the half-turn, allowing for better vision and quicker transitions.

  4. Transition Speed: Upon losing possession, quickly shift from offense to defense, closing down space immediately.

Progressions

  1. Touch Limit: Restrict possession players to two-touch to increase speed of play.

  2. Increase Pass Requirement: Raise the pass count to 15 for scoring, challenging the possession team’s control.

  3. Add a Defender: Progress to 5v3 to enhance pressure and reaction times.

Questions to Ask Players

  • "How can you position yourself to receive under pressure?"

  • "What cues help you anticipate an interception opportunity?"

  • "How quickly can you react to switch between attack and defense?"
